Why Join The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce?

1. ADDRESS THE CONCERNS OF SMALL BUSINESS. The concerns and issues facing the small business in the Greater Crofton area are addressed because of the working relationship GCCC has with chambers at the local and state levels and because the GCCC participates in meetings specifically dealing with these concerns. This is particularly important in the light of the continuous growth and development and the influx of new business to the area as well as the state-wide economic growth plan


2. NETWORKING. Meeting other businesses in the Greater Crofton are, Bowie, West County, and throughout Anne Arundel County is provided through the varied and frequent networking opportunities provided by the GCCC.


3. KEEPING ABREAST OF CURRENT BUSINESS TRENDS. The need of business people to stay in touch with information related to business growth and development possibilities as well as information on specific business-related issues is met by the seminars and programs presented by individuals with expertise on these various issues. Most of these programs are conducted by members of the GCCC, giving additional opportunities for the business growth potential and networking.


4. REFERRAL SERVICE. In response to the many calls received by the chamber from potential customers for information about businesses with a specific service or product, GCCC provides a referral service, but only referring the names of member businesses. Also people moving to the area call to receive information about the area; included in the packet sent to these people is the GCCC Business & Community Guide, and often specific referrals to meet their needs (i.e. child care, doctors, restaurants, and other businesses).


5. SOCIAL CONTACT WITH BUSINESS ASSOCIATES. The opportunity to meet other business people in the Greater Crofton area and surrounding regions on a social level are made possible through the many social opportunities provided by the GCCC. The GCCC plans social events, often jointly with other chambers, including luncheons, mixers, and special event (i.e. joint Chamber Baysox night, networking breakfasts, golf tournament, annual installation dinner, Crofton Awards Banquet, etc.).


6. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. The desire of many business people to participate in the community in which they serve is met by the activities and participation of the GCCC, such activities include participation with the Crofton Civic Association and the Greater Crofton Council and other organizations on the Candidates’ Forums; participation of the GCCC in the Crofton Christmas in April project; participation of the GCCC with the 21st Century Education Foundation, and through the GCCC’s participation on the Route 3 Expansion Committee.

The Greater Crofton area is located between Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis. It's residential and commercial growth, skilled workforce and quality of life make it an idea location to support business growth or relocation.

The Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1989 and incorporated in 1990. It grew from the 13 founding members to a 220+ member organization today. The area served by the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce includes Crofton, Gambrills, Davidsonville, Millersville and Bowie in addition several members belong to the chamber who live in the community but work in other areas of the county. The Chamber participates in many business and community activities. The Chamber produces a monthly newsletter and an annual Business and Community Guide. There are 15,000 copies of the guide printed and they are hand delivered to all homes and businesses in the Greater Crofton Area.
